‘ghetto’ macro

It’s a bit finicky, but you can take macro shots by removing your lens, reversing it, and holding it against the body of your camera. Not quite the same as owning a macro lens, but it works…mostly. They make reversing rings so that you can actually attach your lens to the camera that way; I was trying to hunt one down last night though I didn’t (at the time) know what they were called and EvilMonkey suggested I look up ‘ghetto macro’….*rolls eyes*

Here are a couple taken that way:
(the last one is a regular shot of my macro subjects 🙂 )

oops

I broke my bike.

Well, a piece of it. It was bound to happen eventually – they were 3rd hand forks after all. I don’t know what the boys did to them before I got them, but I suspect they weren’t gentle. Had to put my stock forks back on which means I’ve regressed to riding a completely RIGID mountain bike. I guess that’s not so bad considering that I have hardly been out on it at all in the past few years and when I have it has been on the road…but still…rigid?! Ouch.

Poor, poor, ollllllld, Marzocchi XC 500s 😦
